LYRICS
In much of the science fiction works of Isaac Asimov the creation of a parallel universe set in the future serves as a tool to explore forward thinking ideas but also to focus our attention on our present. 'Orchid', between present and possible future, ,reality and fiction, is the song from Kettle of Kites’ concept album ‘Arrows’ which is closest to our own current reality and is set in the moment when humanity is forced to abandon earth, now polluted and uninhabitable because of radioactive substances. The apocalyptic and nostalgic atmosphere of the song brings you into a world of fiction described by Asimov but also one we may not be so far away from inhabiting ourselves.
lyrics
Maybe we're the last to be witness to this paradise
Before the architect’s fist hammers down in the still of night
Then the tidal wave charging the shore...
And it's no more
We burned it all
All
And the ash falling like snow
Maybe we're the last to be witness to this perfect ring
All the cardinal sins that we hid from are resurfacing
Time is bleeding out faster as the clock hand falls...
And it falls on the hour
We spent it all
All
We could be the last to see the dawn break
Pressed like flowers on the pages of history
Broken hourglass

Kettle of Kites is an indie art rock band. It’s a soaring crescendo and then a simple folk melody. It’s a vast wide open space and then an intimate living room – a geometric maze to find your way through.
