about

Oliver is a song about a robot. It's about the humanity and divinity of an object made by mankind, becoming more than the parts that make it up and the laws it is bound by. Oliver is based on a fundamental character in the works of Isaac Asimov, who is both saviour and scientist, but not of flesh and bone.

It was one of the first songs written for the album 'Arrows' and inspired the direction of the record, working with themes in the books of Asimov

lyrics

LYRICS

Stood statued, metal muse
Born into and born from human logic
Three rules justify the right move, but it's not enough
The stars like dust murmur of a fourth
But where do two worlds collide?
Morality and logic never coincide
The event documented in history
Time bent through the lens of a looking glass
Coerced to serve his purpose
And data draws its lines of progress
But where is the difference between he and I?
We are both programmed and both self aware

Oliver

You were never made to write the course of time

Oliver

Heaven's bodies turned and you were made divine

about

Kettle of Kites Genoa, Italy

Kettle of Kites is an indie art rock band. It’s a soaring crescendo and then a simple folk melody. It’s a vast wide open space and then an intimate living room – a geometric maze to find your way through.
